Yawn...

Well, the meeting was rather uneventful...but in a positive way. It was more therapeutic than anything. We talked about everything from my and Tom's past together, to Tom's love for cycling, to Waycross, GA (Tom's hometown). We talked about Tom's illnesses over the past 18 months (an edited version of an edited version). We discussed what we felt we needed from the medical staff - I said "more collaboration between them"..."more details for us". Finally, they explained the importance of the living will and power of attorney and blah, blah, blah.

I forgot to provide you with an info link about palliative collaboration, but if you're anything like me you've already done your research by now. Basically, it's a way to prepare a family at a time when the outcome of a patient is uncertain. They document the patient's wishes as well as goals, and give the primary caretaker information on his/her responsibilites in a time such as this.

Wow, we are kind of shocked to read what has been going on with Tom for the past week. We got our heads buried in our work and came up for air this evening only to find out that you guys have had quite an adventure this week.
Maybe Tom is sleeping a lot in order to heal. What a yearand a half you folks have had. We will pay closer attention. Let us know if we can help and we really mean that. We pray that things will continue to get better for you three, especially for Tom.
