Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Yesterday, Tom had a feeding tube inserted through his nose, down his throat, and into his stomach. This is the worst experience I've seen him endure so far. The nurses warned me that I might want to leave the room during the procedure but I wanted to stay and hold his hand. He gagged so hard, his eyes were very watery and he was making choking sounds. I felt soooo helpless. I wanted to do something to help him.

Well, the tube did not make it to his stomach so they had to remove it and do it again. I left the room this time. It took about ten minutes for him to relax with the feeding tube. Now, he has a bag of light brown "stuff" entering his stomach. Tom says, "it looks like processed bologna". He will have to use it for about a week.

That bologna puree looks mighty gnarly, Tom. I'll buy you a burrito after all this. -Ted
