We have returned from a lovely week at the beach. I drove the whole time, which I've never done before. I drove us to Savannah to bury Tom's mother's cremated remains, and then to the beach.
The weather was perfect, the air was refreshing, the sand was like sugar, and the condo was beautiful (thanks Ralph!). Katie and her friend Noelle had a wonderful time snorkeling, shopping, watching movies, crabbing in front of the hotel at night, bungee jumping, and swimming. Tom and I really enjoyed the boat ride out to a small island called Shell Island (this is where the girls snorkeled). It was cloudy that morning, so Tom was able to sit out in the open on the side of the boat and take in the view of the dolphins as opposed to having to sit in a shady spot somewhere on deck with a limited view.
Tom went to the beach once, after sunset, and stayed for about 10 minutes. It was a real challenge for him to walk in the sand. He didn't get in the pool because he felt it was too risky as far as the amount of germs - there were a lot of people there. He really just stayed inside with his laptop the whole time, out of the sun. Sounds boring, but not to Tom. He occasionally sat on the patio and enjoyed the view of the ocean from 22 stories up.
We went out and ate seafood one night, and browsed some little surf shops and trinket stores. Well, us girls browsed but Tom sat on benches here and there - he just can't stroll up and down the sidewalk like the rest of us. He's ok as long as he's sitting. It was a refreshing getaway. We just love the beaches in the panhandle of Florida. That's the only place we ever go.

Hey guys... Sorry for the absence. Good to hear about the trip to Florida. Reading about the trip here makes me want to make that trip down there right away. Waves lapping against the coastline amidst an emerald backdrop... nice! Hope your 4th was equally as magical.
