Chicken legs (2nd post today)

Here is my my finger in comparison to Tom's calf (look at my arm in comparison!). This should give you an idea of how he looks underneath his jeans and jacket. It's a very scary sight to behold.

holy smokes, Lisa!!! Thanks for keeping us posted. One of my best friends is a doctor in Evansville Indiana. Dr. Lorenz is wondering if perhaps the bone marrow transplant wasn't a good enough match. In that case they would have to try again and although I'm sure Tom is in no shape to go through with that procedure again, a poor match would cause some of the issues Tom seems to be having.
We haven't heard about the results of his extraction yet, and that might tell the tale.
Please call us as soon as you need help (a sitter/transportation agent/nurse) again because we are here to help.
Somehow these serious symptoms are part of the journey and challenge, we just aren't sure why Tom is on such a roller coaster and his doctors, of course, need to figure that out. Is there a specialist somewhere that knows more than the people treating him? Surely they have seen this kind of circumstances before but if not, we need to find the medical team that has and knows what to do about it before it is too late.
Please keep us well informed and ask for help when you need it so we can get you the help you need.

I'm with Richard. If the doctor currently treating Tom does not know what is going on, then he needs to seek out the advice of his colleagues. If the doctor doesn't, then Lisa, there is nothing stopping you from seeking out other opinions. Ted's aunt had this rare autoimmune disease and it just so happened that one of the doctors at MD Anderson had seen it once (and only once) before. It literally saved her life. You just never know where you might find the answers you need. I would not accept "I don't know" from the doctor. He should be doing everything in his power to find out.
Please don't give up, either of you. I know you are both tired but there's got to be an answer and I'm going to help you look, okay? Hang in there!
I love you!
Love,
Elise

Lisa,

We have been keeping up with what has been going on and probably have shed many a tear with you. Tell Tom he can win this battle, he has to.

I agree with what the other folks said. Maybe it is time to see if another Doctor or Doctor's have a different idea as to what could be going on. My Dad had to do this and it did save his life. It is after all just an educated guess, and maybe some other Dr. paid more attention in class. Of course you make the decisions and you know more about what is going on.

You, Katie and Tom are in our thoughts daily. I admire your strength.
