Low platelet count

Tom has a low platelet count today which is nothing to worry about. He's having an infusion as we speak. He's knocked out from Benedryl which is given to help prevent chills and any other minor adverse reactions while receiving the transfusion.

Chemotherapy can affect the body’s ability to produce platelets, so cancer patients often require platelet transfusions. To prevent life-threatening bleeding, many patients with leukemia, aplastic anemia and those undergoing bone marrow transplants must regularly receive platelets donated by healthy volunteers. -Red Cross

The day gets better though, as my step-dad Bruce is making his famous (in our family at least) burritos - homemade tortillas and all. Tom loves them - he just hopes he can eat them. He has taste aversions to many different foods, including his favorites.

Burritos! Oh, Tom, I sure hope you are able to enjoy them as I wish I could be there to enjoy them with you. It sounds just scrumptious! Have one for me!

Yay for homemade tortillas! I was so glad to read about the air conditioner... One is better than two. Lisa, I got such a kick out of you panting in the video. You poor thing!

Tom, loved talking with you the other night. Lisa, you are awesome. We miss you guys.

Lots of love,
Jessica

P.S. Bizarre Foods (or whatever it is called) is now in my "rotation." :)
