Update
The doctor made her rounds just a little while ago. She wasn't concerned about the possibility of cancer, she was mainly focused on Tom's liver enzymes and the count being so high, as well as the huge scab from shingles. He had one of his burning episodes while she was in the room, and she put him on a stronger pain medicine immediately. She said he's wasting away, as if his "body has given up" (those were her words). She is going to schedule a few different people to come talk to Tom tomorrow morning: a nutritionist, a dermatologist, a physical therapist, and an oncologist "just in case". I asked her why Tom was moved to the oncology floor, and she said she didn't know "probably because he has a history on this floor". After I hear what those medical professionals have to say tomorrow, I'll be able to relax...
