Doing great!

Tom is really doing well:
* He's eating regular portions, although some foods still don't taste normal.
* He's exercising on his stationary bike and rowing machine daily.
* His visits to the clinic are now weekly (one visit per week).
* He's walking without his cane now.
* He stays on the computer all day.
* He cooks pancakes for himself every morning.

* His infectious disease physician told him to stay at home as much as possible. If he must leave home, then he has to wear a mask. This doctor also wants Tom to continue taking all of his disease-fighting meds, which make him feel so yucky and sickly. Tom always says he feels "normal" in the morning before he takes his morning meds.
* His neurologist doesn't think the medicine is what makes him feel so bad, but rather a mineral deficiency (don't worry mom, he's taking supplements).
* His oncologist, the main doctor, thinks it's ok for Tom to begin tapering off all his meds very soon. He doesn't believe he has a mineral deficiency. Whether or not Tom can drive is up to his neurologist.

Tom likes what his oncologist has to say most, and what his ID doctor says least.

Tom's current goals are to: 1) stop taking his "yucky" medicine (four different kinds), and 2) start driving again.

Hmmm... Tom on the road again. The next thing you know, he'll be going to Home Depot or some seedy Bar-B-Que place up the road (there's always a seedy Bar-B-Que place up the road).

Glad to hear you are feeling better, buddy. You hang in there and don't let that driver's license grow moldy...

Thanks for the update. I talked to Tom last night and he sounds so so so very good!! Tom, you're really close to breaking out but please don't take any chances. I'm so thrilled to hear good news. I can't wait to come to town again and hang out with your guys. Talk to you soon.
Love ya!

This is some of the best news we've heard yet! Before you get on the road, Tom, remember that it isn't whether you drive well or not, but that a lot of other people don't. Make sure your reaction times are coming back into synch before you head out there, lest some of these crazy drivers run over you.

On the other hand, it may be a moot point if we all run out of gasoline. Then it will be back to the bike world for everyone.

We're excited about your progress!!! Go man go!
Thanks for the update, Lisa!

Glad to see Tom is doing better, that's awesome!

Don't tell him the chili cookoff is this weekend or he might hop in the car and sneak out there.
