Day two, round 7

I believe this is the 7th time Tom has been admitted to the hospital over the past year.

He has been sleeping the majority of the day. He's maintaining a low-grade fever. He's still unable to keep solid food down (sometimes he can eat approx 1/4 cup of grits or applesauce). The doctor said that if his protein level, etc. is still low tomorrow morning he will have no choice but to put Tom on a feeding tube. Even though he's able to drink 2-3 high-calorie drinks each day (Ensure, Boost, etc.) it's not enough to sustain him.

He's not able to control his bowels when he stands up. That may be a sign that the virus, C. Diff., has returned. I'll spare you the details.

No news about the possible pneumonia yet.

He's not as outwardly depressed as he was last night. He just goes with the flow. I told him that most people wouldn't have been able to withstand everything he has so far without taking an anti-psychotic pill. I think I would be in a straightjacket by now.

That's it for today.

I am praying hard and thinking positive thoughts for you guys! I can't imagine how hard this is but you all are the epitome of strength and grace. Know that you are in our thoughts constantly.
